Medical CARE

Recalling a conversation with Jenny last night, an experienced nurse with decades of experiences:

Once upon a time, doctors were truly amazing people. With a little probing, a little observations and a taking of the pulse, they knew exactly what is wrong with the patient.

There was once, she witnessed a doctor just feeling the near the ribs of a patient and declared that the patient was suffering from liver inflammation. A more careful examination and the doctor can tell exactly how many centimeters was the swollen of the liver and give advice immediately.

Today, the same patient would have to pay at least $400 immediately for a scan for similar complains. This is without guarantee that a correct diagnosis would be obtained.

Makes us wonder why medical fees are ever growing?

Technology is making things easier, and medical workers, doctors and nurses alike are becoming excellence machine operators rather than care-givers, is it time to ask if technology is making things too easy?

I am a student of technology. I graduated with a degree in Computer Engineering and I am a certified “geek”. But I must never forget that it is humanity that makes life worthwhile.

Comments:
So true.

But for my case is kinda different. The only machines that help me run my tests are centrifuges and refrigerators.

The average performance of the docs nowadays are quite disappointing. They are only good at carrying out standard protocols.

Technology does make things easier but not nessecarily cheaper. What we are paying for is the amount of most investors poured in for the researching and piloting the so called technology. At the end of they day they are just businessmen not people who really wanted to help save lives.

Dang i commented shit loads today.
